SDSM Proclaims Victory in 40 Municipalities in First Round

The SDSM-led coalition ‘Life in Macedonia’ has won in 40 municipalities in the first round and it has an overwhelming lead in Skopje, SDSM leader and incumbent PM Zoran Zaev stated Sunday night.  He assessed that the elections were exceptionally fair, democratic and regular and the victory belongs to people with freely expressed will. Thus, he underlined, support was extended to a society for all as well as growth and development. Based on results for 469 polling stations out of total 685, the Skopje candidate from the ranks of SDSM Petre Silegov has 75,626 votes, while his rival from VMRO-DPMNE – 53.812. As he noted, in Skopje municipalities they have won in Gjorce Petrov, Karpos, Centar, Aerodrom and Shuto Orizari and there is close result in Kisela Voda, Butel and Gazi Baba, where SDSM candidates are favourites for the second round. “We have won in Zelenikovo, Aracinovo, Kumanovo, Rankovce, Kriva Palanka, Kratovo, Kocani, Pehcevo, Delcevo, Berovo, Konce, Radovis, Vasilevo, Bosilevo, Novo Selo, Strumica, Valandovo, Bogdanci, Dojran, Gevgelija, Demir Kapija, Negotino, Lozovo, Veles, Prilep, Bitola with 12,000 votes more, Resen, Ohrid, Debarca, Vevcani, Krivogastani, Mavrovo i Rostuse, Krusevo, Jegunovce and probably in several more,” said Zaev.
