SEC Initial Results on Local Elections

The State Election Commission (SEC) has published the initial election results on its website. According to them, SDSM mayoral candidates are ahead in 37 municipalities, VMRO-DPMNE in 15 municipalities, while DUI in four. In Bitola SDSM’s Natasa Petrovska is ahead of VMRO-DPMNE’s Zoran Ilioski with 61.98 % as opposed to 32.81 %, but only 14.22 % of votes had been counted. The ratio in favour of SDSM in following municipalities is as follows: Bogdanci – 65.83:32.66, Gevgelija – 56.67:39.76, Kumanovo – 62.64:28.06. In Veles SDSM’s Ace Kocevski is in mild advantage before DPMNE’s Slavco Cadiev with 48.98 % to 46.27 % and the result is close in Gjorce Petrov between SDSM’s Aleksandar Naumovski and DPMNE’s Vlado Misajlovski. In Gazi Baba Toni Trajkovski of DPMNE leads 49.03 % to 44.75 % ahead of SDSM’s Boris Gjorgjievski, while in Stip Ilco Zahariev, the hitherto mayor from the ranks of VMRO-DPMNE, leads SDSM’s Blagoj Bocvarski with 60:33. In Tetovo DUI’s Teuta Arifi leads with 29.54 % as compared to Besa’s Bilal Kasami with 26.52 %. The total turnout of voters is 58.22 %, as compared to the previous elections when it was 66.8 %.
