The Special Prosecutor’s Office said on Wednesday it had gotten its first effective verdict on 17 November. A defendant in the Target-Fortress case pleaded guilty and was given a suspended sentence. The procedure was completed secretly in order to protect the person’s safety because they, apart from pleading guilty, contributed also to the proving of the part concerning the deletion of the logs from the wire-tapping in the UBK, as established by a foreign expert. This procedure, run separately, was started and completed without the presence of the public in the Criminal Court. Commenting on the Target-Fortress case, Special Prosecutor Katica Janeva said she expected ex-PM Nikola Gruevski and former UBK Director Saso Mijalkov to be given the longest sentence possible.
