“I see no need for a change of the Constitution,” PM Zoran Zaev said on Wednesday, asked whether the process to resolve the name issue included talks also on potential constitutional changes. He once again stated that the solution had to guarantee the two sides’ identity and dignity. As Zaev added, next week, UN envoy Matthew Nimetz will meet FM Nikola Dimitrov and his Greek counterpart, Nikos Kotzias. Government spokesperson Mile Bosnjakovski said a new meeting between Zaev and Greek counterpart Alexis Tsipras still hadn’t been scheduled. In an interview with Deutsche Welle, the EU Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations, Johannes Hahn, said he expected the dispute to be resolved in the near future. Defence Minister Radmila Sekerinska and DUI leader Ali Ahmeti expressed optimism that a solution can be found. Gjorge Ivanov’s Cabinet said the President wasn’t informed about any deal reached between Tsipras and Zaev at the meeting in Davos, on whose deal the statements made by Kotzias are founded.
